Option D — Colour & Texture Exploration

1 — Charcoal + gold foil: pulls directly from the masthead ink band already in the redesign, so this section visually "belongs" to the same paper. First card gets a slightly richer gradient as a "featured/current" treatment. Highest contrast, most premium/dramatic.
2 — Colour-per-origin + grain: each card's colour signals where the event is from (green=SA civic, rust=general, sandstone=UAE, plum=seasonal/nature) with a diagonal fabric-like grain overlay for texture. Busiest of the three — good if you want the strip itself to carry information, not just decoration.
3 — Cream insert card: stays entirely inside the paper's own warm palette instead of going dark — reads as a printed insert/ticket stub tucked into the newspaper rather than an app UI. Foil-gradient top edge + faint halftone dot texture for depth without leaving the editorial world. Most "newspaper," least "product UI."
All three keep the same swipe-strip mechanics from Option D (fixed height regardless of event count, native mobile feel).
