Workshop notes

• A — straight refinement of #3, no hybrid. The "NOW" card gets a gold ring + deeper foil bar so the current event reads as genuinely featured, not just first-in-line.
• B — straight refinement of #1. Feature card gets a warmer gradient + amber glow instead of flat charcoal, so it doesn't look identical to the other three.
• C — hybrid, cream-forward: the card body stays paper (matches the rest of the Journal's editorial world), but each date sits inside its own little charcoal "ticket stub" with a perforated tear-line beneath it — like a printed ticket glued onto the page. Gets #1's drama in a contained, textural way without making the whole strip feel like a dark app widget.
• D — hybrid, charcoal-forward: the opposite split — card body is dramatic charcoal/gold (like #1), but a small cream "paper tag" footer holds the location/context text, so it doesn't lose #3's warm paper identity entirely.
• My read: C is the strongest hybrid — it keeps the section feeling like part of the same warm paper as everything around it (important since this sits between other cream sections), while the ticket-stub gives it real object-ness and a bit of theatre. A is the safe fallback if C reads as too fussy in your eye.
